Gameco, Artisan Supplies and Me

I started working for Gameco on the 2nd February 1999 as a gas cylinder test station operator. Back in the olden days when people used to retest gas cylinders.

I started working in the shop not long after and until 2013 I had roles in sales and technical gas sales. Gameco was founded in 1972 and we specialise in all types of industrial and commercial gas equipment. www.gameco.com.au

Through my time at the gas division at Gameco I have spent a lot of time sitting on industry committees. Gameco has a long standing commitment to all the industries we support. I have sat on the ALPGA NSW state branch committee, been the treasurer of the Institution of Gas Engineers. I sat on various Standards Committees including AG-006 and ME-015 and of course Gas Energy Australia’s Safety Standard and Technical Committee. I am an Advanced LP Gasfitter by trade, meaning I am qualified to install all kinds of gas installations from a house, caravan or a marine craft through to massive multi tank LP Gas Depots and industrial facilities. The powers that be however have deemed I am not competent to replace even a hose on Natural Gas. It is a weird world.

One of the highlights of my career was building the worlds largest full scale bushfire simulator which I believe remains a one of a kind in the world, burning at maximum flow approximately 1200 Litre of liquid propane per hour. This video shows it running at a maximum of about 2/3 of maximum flow.

So then there was the time I had to burn down a house. Actually I have done three houses. You can hear how I feel about having to burn houses in this video….

So that’s how I started at Gameco… In 2012 however I wanted to bring in some stuff for my hobby… blacksmithing and making knives. A 10 year long story short, that’s how Gameco Artisan Supplies kicked off.

Gameco Artisan Supplies is now the biggest and best supplier of knifemaking and blacksmithing tools and supplies and you can follow them at the following links:

I do not have and have never had a share or any ownership in Gameco. This Niroc business is “my own thing”

Fortunately Gameco is extremely supportive of the community and I have thus got time to assist in community not for profits.

I am the secretary of the Australian Knifemakers Guild

The treasurer of the Knife Art Association

and a member of The NSW Artist Blacksmiths Association and the Queensland Metal Artisans Collective.

So yeah that is a bit about me.
